Carrying on from T.M.R's previous coding experiments with making ridiculously small intros, Yoctotro pares everything down to the point that both code and data are squished down to take a miniscule 288 ($120) bytes of the C64's memory. In fact the memory use is tight enough that the file's length actually increases by a couple of hundred bytes after it's been compressed!
There is some room to reduce things further by removing the classic intro "hum" or setting both the logo and scroller to a single colour but, after mulling it over at some length, T.M.R eventually decided that he preferred it with those features present rather than pushing things further.
Trivia: the two characters on screen above the logo are left behind by Exomizer; originally the plan was to instead use Pucruncher which didn't leave visible artefacts, but it didn't like dealing with such a small file. |
