Ikaruga is Cosine's first demo for the Commodore Plus/4 (it also runs on the C16 due to the competition rules) and took about three weeks to write from learning the Plus/4 hardware to a mostly completed version. In all there are six effects, two logos (one of which is in two different configurations) and a picture taking a third of the screen along with an awesome TED soundtrack (featuring a custom written music driver) and everything functions from a mere 11K of memory.
Trivia: For those who don't know, the name Ikaruga comes from the excellent vertical scrolling shoot 'em up developed by Treasure for the arcades, Sega's Dreamcast, Nintendo Gamecube and most recently Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade. This demo has no actual relation to the game, but is named after it as a sort of homage to a fantastic piece of software. |
