This little addition to the 2018 iteration of the New Years Disk was put together a couple of days before the deadline to show off the excellent triple speed POKEY cover that aNdy produced of Jason Page's loading music from Uridium 2 on the Amiga. The DYCP routine was a prototype that T.M.R had languishing in his work folders which didn't hog all of the processing time, it works in the same way that C64 DYCPs tend to - using a single character set and arranging the characters into columns for fast access when clearing or drawing data - which we believe explains the display even if nobody can remember how it ended up like that originally.
Trivia: The music was put together whilst aNdy was getting his head around the POKEY. Despite much head scratching, T.M.R failed to come up with a better name than DYCP 2018 for a demo with a DYCP which was released in 2018. |
