Whilst reminiscing in a blog post about Demo Factory - one of his very first demos from 1987 - T.M.R found himself pondering the idea of a remake and, between writing the first draft of said missive and actually posting it, put together the bulk of what would become Demo Factory 2018. The basic design is the same as before with an on-screen factory imprinting the various demo elements onto floppy disks as they move along a conveyor belt, but over thirty years of coding experience means the execution is slightly cleaner this time round and a lot of the features which were beyond the T.M.R's abilities as a programmer back then could be included this time around.
Trivia: The original Demo Factory was conceived as something of a parody, aimed roughly at the plethora of "bog standard" demos on the C64 at that time which featured a bitmapped picture, music and scrolling message - the kind of demo that T.M.R has produced on multiple occasions since. Odie composed the music used in Demo Factory 2018 for the game Ninja Rabbits which was published by Flair's budget arm MicroValue in 1991. |
