Co-Axis was Jason's first real game (further information on the predecessors and the evolution that lead to Co-Axis can be found at his blog) but the final version was never properly released back in the day; during development, a preview copy sent to a couple of software houses for evaluation was trained and spread by Rough Trade Inc., which effectively killed the project dead.
When that crack turned up online a decade later, Jason decided to set things straight and this release came about, built from a later development copy which was then extensively modified and fixed release. Five real trainers were fitted (rather than the claimed four of the previous release), several bugs were patched and a fix added to make sure everything worked on the early revision C64. This release also includes the final loading screen, which was previously unseen.
To play Co-Axis, connect a joystick to port two, directions move the ship around and the trigger fires the primary weapon. To pause the game, press run/stop (unless that key has been reassigned by the trainer) and to quit, press Q.
Trivia: There's a cheat-mode in the game itself, type "the secret garden" (a song by T'Pau) on the titles page to become invincible. |
